Merino/Silk

A 60/40 blend of merino and mulberry silk.

Merino is a fine wool great for next to the skin garments.  It has a lot of crimp, which means elasticity in a handspun yarn.  Merino typically has a staple length of 2-5 inches, which makes it more difficult to spin for beginners, but great for spinning laceweight yarn.  Silk adds shine, strength, and softness to this blend.  *Information from The Fleece & Fiber Sourcebook by Deborah Robson and Carol Ekarius.
