An ancient and well-utilized fiber, hemp is durable, strong, and can be as soft as linen. This particular hemp is not scutched and hackled like line linen or line hemp. Instead, it has gone through a process called "decortication," where the fibers are scraped from the stem of green or partially retted hemp. This results in shorter fiber, approximately 4-6 inches long.
Spin this into a strong yarn to knit, crochet, or weave with. Or use in a felting project. Though hemp does not felt on its own, it will add a nice sheen when combined with wool for a wet felted or needle felted piece.
