11.14.26 Following the Thread: Explorations in Improvisational Patchwork with Katherine Ferrier

Regular price $165.00 Sale

Saturday, November 14th from 10:00am-5:00pm

What if patchwork was less about perfection and more about being in deep conversation with the moment at hand? This workshop approaches patchwork not as a practice of precision, but as an intimate, tactile conversation between hand, needle, and intuition. Stitching by hand shifts our relationship to time, inviting a rhythm that slows us down and connects us to the here and now. In this space, every stitch becomes both an anchor and a question: What wants to go here next?

Letting go of the pressure of fussy measurements and rigid patterns, we will explore improvisational piecing as a meditative practice of composition and assemblage. Working intuitively with color, texture, and juxtaposition, you will learn to listen to the materials and respond to the unexpected. You will design as you go, and then bring into being a small textile composition or wall hanging from start to finish, exploring various approaches to piecing, backing, finishing, and hanging.

No previous sewing or patchwork experience necessary. All materials are provided, including fabric, batting, backing material, needle and thread. Feel free to bring any fabrics you’d like to work with, or donate to the community pile, though what’s provided will be plenty!

Cost is $165 and includes a $15 materials fee.

Please bring a lunch with you.  There's a refrigerator you're welcome to use.
