9.24.22 Embracing the Mystery: Making a Quilt with Cyanotype Prints with Katherine Ferrier

In this workshop we’ll work with themes of light and dark, shadows and ghosts, and collaborations with the unknown, as we learn how to make prints on fabric using the sun and magic of cyanotypes. We’ll take inspiration from small objects that have meaning for us, as well as anything we find around the neighborhood (leaves, grasses,
Once we make our prints, we’ll use the fabric to make a small quilt, adding stitches as another layer of meaning. Along the way we’ll explore elements of composition, design, embracing mistakes, and the basics of quilt making.
Please bring a lunch (we'll take an hour long break mid-day).
Please also bring any interesting and/or meaningful objects to "print" with. And perhaps a notebook.
Cost is $125 and includes a $20 materials kit, which includes treated fabric for prints, batting, backing fabric, needle and thread.
