This workshop provides an excellent opportunity to learn a handful of new needle-felting techniques typically not taught in Mia’s other 3D felt sculpting classes. Aside from shape building, Mia will guide you through the steps of blending and layering various colors of wool, and creating depth and texture to your felted work. No experience necessary. Adults and children ages 8 and up are welcome.
Cost is $58 and includes materials and use of a shop foam pad and felting needle. You’re welcome to bring a double-needle if you have one or purchase the tool at Portfiber. It would help to speed up your progress.
Mia is a fiber artist based in Portland. Through a variety of needle- and wet-felting techniques, she creates whimsical 3D wool sculptures that are oftentimes functional objects such as children’s toys, home decorations, holiday ornaments, conversation pieces, and jewelry. She draws her inspiration from nature and everyday life. Mia holds a BA degree in Education and a BS in Marketing Communications. She has been felting for over 12 years and has shared her knowledge and love for felting with children and adults at various venues in the Greater Portland area.
