If you have completed a basic floor loom weaving class and are comfortable setting up a loom, then this class for you!
Weft-faced rugs are relatively quick to set up because the warp is sett at 6 ends per inch. Ray will talk about what makes for a good, solid rug and walk you through some simple pattern options like pick and pick or krokbragd.
Your class fee includes a cone of rug warp yarn to set up a 2' x 3' rug. You may choose to bring your own weft yarns, but there are plenty of suitable options for sale in the shop, too.
You will begin weaving your rug over the course of the weekend; however, weft-faced weaving takes some time. If you are using a shop loom, we will set you up with a rental at the end of class. The looms are $21/week to rent and you can come in to work on your projects during shop hours - Wednesday through Saturday, 11:00am to 5:00pm. We estimate that your rug may take 15-20 hours to weave depending on the thickness and complexity of your weft yarns.
Class size is limited to 4 students.
Please Bring: notebook + lunch/snack for Saturday. Also, you are welcome to bring headphones if you need to get in the zone while setting up your loom.
If you are bringing your own loom, please bring a 6 or 12 dent reed.
Class Cancelation Policy:
If you cancel more than 30 days before the beginning of your class, we will offer you store credit in the amount of your class. Cancelation with less than 30 days notice will result in the forfeiture of your entire course fee. However, if we are able to fill your spot, we will offer store credit in the amount of the class.
If we cancel a class, you can choose to receive a full refund or store credit.
