In this class you’ll learn the basics of wet felting while making a simple, seamless bowl or vessel. We will transform wispy wool roving into a durable material using water, soap, and a bit of agitation. Along the way, we’ll marvel at the many metaphors of how things come into being, how friction helps new forms emerge, and how patience is a practice where transformation is concerned. We’ll finish our vessels with a driftwood handle, exploring several methods of adjusting the structure of the vessel to best hold the wood. Throughout the day, we’ll take short breaks from felting and bring our attention to the page, exploring some guided prompts and meditations around themes of friction, transformation, patience, and change. By the end of the day, you’ll have a finished felted vessel with a driftwood handle, and a bit of writing that just might surprise you.
Please bring: 2 large, old towels, an apron and/or wear clothes you don’t mind getting a bit wet, a journal, and pen for writing. Pack a lunch, or plan on getting a snack nearby for a mid-day lunch break.
You will select and purchase your fibers before the beginning of class. Please feel free to also bring felt-able wool from your own home stash. All other materials, including bubble wrap, soap, netting, shaping tools, and an assortment of curated driftwood pieces—are provided, though you are welcome to bring a smooth, dry piece of gathered shoreline wood from your own wanderings.
Cost is $165 and includes a $15 materials fee. Again, please note that you will need to purchase the fiber for your vessel before class and/or bring stash fiber from home.

Class Cancelation Policy:
If you cancel more than 30 days before the beginning of your class, we will offer you store credit in the amount of your class. Cancelation with 30 days or less notice will result in the forfeiture of your entire course fee. However, if we are able to fill your spot, we will offer store credit in the amount of the class.
If we cancel a class, you can choose to receive a full refund or store credit.
