Mia teaches one of her most popular designs in this workshop for the very first time. Sculpting and manipulating 3D shapes, detailing, creating and attaching various 3D and flat elements are the techniques you will learn and use for felting many other birds. No experience necessary. Adults and children ages 8 and up are welcome.
Cost is $75 and includes materials and use of a shop foam pad and felting needle. You’re welcome to bring a double-needle if you have one or purchase the tool at Portfiber. It would help speed up your progress.
Mia is a fiber artist based in Portland. Through a variety of needle- and wet-felting techniques, she creates whimsical 3D wool sculptures that are oftentimes functional objects such as children’s toys, home decorations, holiday ornaments, conversation pieces, and jewelry. She draws her inspiration from nature and everyday life. She holds a BA degree in Education and a BS in Marketing Communications. She has been felting for over 12 years and has shared her knowledge and love for felting with children and adults at various venues in the Greater Portland area.
