Sale
Saturday, April 4th - 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Class Level: Intermediate
This class provides a solid introduction to choosing colors for Fair Isle knitting. Using Mary Jane's Tamto Mitts pattern, we'll delve into the historical use of color in Fair Isle knitting. We will analyze how different color combinations can completely change a motif's appearance. Knitting a quick swatch, will illustrate new concepts.
Class fee includes a printed pattern that can also be emailed and/or sent to your Ravelry account for future use.
Please Bring or Purchase:
Yarn: Six or more colors of fingering weight yarn, at least 3 light colors and 3 dark colors; 15-20 yards of each color. More colors will allow for more choice and experimentation. Harrisville Shetland wool is ideal because of its vast array of colors. If you plan to purchase yarn, please do so ahead of class so that it can be wound into balls and ready for class.
Note: in class, we will be making a swatch, and thus you can bring just enough yarn for that: six or more colors of fingering weight yarn; 20-25 yards of each color.
Needles: Your preferred needle for working small-diameter pieces in the round, US3 [3.25mm] dps or long circular needle for magic loop. Stitch markers and tapestry needle.
