Here's your chance to stitch and weave with no fabric and no loom! This class is a fantastic run-through of the three foundational broom making skills of tying, stitching, and weaving. In this class, we'll tie simple round broomcorn whisks and then transform them into fantastic flat whisk brooms by clamping and stitching them. The whisk brooms will be further embellished by weaving basket reed over the handles. Your stitched whisk is the perfect tool for keeping your craft room, sewing table, or workshop spic and span. It's also a great gift for that person who has everything!
All class tools and materials are provided. Tying a broom is a stress-reducing, full body practice. You'll use both feet to hold tension and both hands to manipulate the yarn and wrap the broom tightly. Broom tying is best attempted with bare or stockinged feet, so please be prepared to take your shoes off during class.
Level - Intermediate: Students who have taken a previous broom-making class will have the best experience approaching this more challenging style. Confident, crafty students who elect to take this as a first class are welcome and should be prepared for a modest challenge.
