Dig up your silliest journal entries, inside joke texts, misunderstood song lyrics, and other corny anecdotes. Let’s stitch them up for current laughs or for long term posterity!
You will learn basic hand embroidery stitches, or learn new ways of stitching the ones you already know; simple methods of hand appliqué; and how to stitch text and image into a story.
Maggie will have supplies to share, but this is a bring-your-materials class.
Please bring:
- 1/2 yard loose weave solid cotton fabric (best if its and old piece of clothing or thin flannel blanket, something used and soft and easy to stitch through)
- any hand sewing needle or hand sewing supplies
- A variety of threads: sewing thread, embroidery floss, perle cotton. Ask your friends for threads they are not using.
- sharp snips (small scissors)
- 6” embroidery hoop

About Maggie:
For most of my life I have been a stitcher and teacher. I studied at the Opus School of Textile Arts in London, where I focused my work on Narrative Embroidery. And later, I earned a BFA in Painting, with a minor in Drawing, from Maine College of Art and Design. Narrative embroidery is, for me, the best way to combine my love of drawing and stitching. In one of my lives, I was an ASL interpreter, which has had so many subtle effects on my love of storytelling and the many ways that hands express language. Class Cancelation Policy:
If you cancel more than 30 days before the beginning of your class, we will offer you store credit in the amount of your class. Cancelation with less than 30 days notice will result in the forfeiture of your entire course fee. However, if we are able to fill your spot, we will offer store credit in the amount of the class.
If we cancel a class, you can choose to receive a full refund or store credit.
