A rigid heddle loom is a portable loom that is quick to set up. If you’re curious about weaving, this is a great place to start! In this beginner class, you will learn how to set up a loom, weave, and hemstitch while exploring how color and texture interact in a classic checkerboard pattern.
No experience is necessary. You will begin weaving your napkins in class, but will finish weaving them at home. Plan on 8-10 hours outside of class time to weave four napkins.
Cost is $265 and includes 2 weeks of loom rental and the pattern. You may choose to rent for a longer period of time if you'd like ($21/week). If you decide you love weaving and purchase a rigid heddle loom from us, we will credit up to 4 weeks of rental fees towards your purchase.
If you have your own rigid heddle loom, please bring a 10 dent heddle along with your loom and accompanying equipment. Please be sure your loom is assembled and in working order. Cost is then $215.
You will be able to pick out and purchase your yarn during class. We will be using Mallo Cotton Slub, if you'd like to look at colors ahead of time. Materials cost for two cones of Mallo Cotton Slub is $64.
Class size is capped at 4 students.
Please Bring:
- a measuring tape – one that reaches 90+ inches is preferable
- scissors
- note-taking materials
- a snack/meal for yourself - we'll take a little break halfway through to stretch and eat and maybe get a coffee
