This class is for beginning weavers who want to learn how to weave on a 4-harness floor or table loom. No previous weaving experience is necessary, but rigid heddle weavers and and those looking to refresh their skills are also welcome. You will learn the parts of a loom, how to read a draft, calculate yarn needed for warp, and how to thread a loom. Students will create a scarf, table runner, place mats, or hand towels. A variety of weaving yarns are available at the shop or you may choose to bring your own.
This class will meet for a weekend intensive and then once more three weeks later to learn how to finish your project. You will need to come in and work on your loom outside of class time - an estimated 15-20 hours. Please note that normal shop hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm.
Class times are as follows:
Saturday, October 23rd from 9:00am-5:00pm *1 hour lunch break
Sunday, October 24th from 9:00am-4:00pm *1 hour lunch break
Saturday, November 13th from 11:00pm-1:00pm
Cost is $300 and includes 3 weeks of loom rental ($45). If you have your own loom that you'd like to use, cost is $255. Materials will be available for purchase and will cost $30 and up depending on your yarn choices and the size of your project.
